Italy - Update on road blockades

22 October, 2026

Update

Further to EmIS messages 195/2026 and 200/2026, the designated operator of Italy, Poste Italiane, wishes to inform Union member countries and their designated operators that ongoing roadblocks continue to obstruct the normal flow of traffic to and from regions in southern Italy.   As a result, Poste Italiane is unable to guarantee the regular delivery of mail and parcels (both domestic and international) across Italy, and significant delays are to be expected for reasons beyond its control. Furthermore, owing to the ongoing disruption, Poste Italiane has been forced to suspend the collection, acceptance and delivery of parcels and EMS items to and from the regions of Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Puglia and Sicily.   Updates on the evolving situation and the restoration of affected services will be posted promptly on the poste.it website and on the portals dedicated to the specific services, and provided via EmIS.   Poste Italiane apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding.
